Valley High junior Garic Wharton is receiving interest from college football programs because of his speed. Wharton, a wide receiver and defensive back, set a state record in the 200-meters at 21.1 seconds last spring.

The Wildcats are one month into their spring football program, working on everything from conditioning to learning a new defense. More than 50 varsity players attend practices, which are involuntary and three times each week until the summer.
