Shadow Ridge High is hoping this season turns out better than last year's.

The Mustangs return a majority of their starting lineup and have high hopes they will be more competitive in a deep Northwest Division, the top league in the large-school classification.

Last season, the Mustangs (2-8, 1-6) struggled to stay competitive as opponents outscored them 335-131. As a result, Shadow Ridge replaced its defensive coordinator.
