Season:
83-19

Spring Valley will prevail in what essentially is a battle for the last playoff spot in the Southwest.
Spring Valley 34, Bonanza 27

Channel 12 needs to clear its programming for the entire night for this televised affair. Both teams score a lot and get scored on a lot.
Spring Valley 46, Bonanza 42

Desert Oasis enjoys a homecoming game victory.
Desert Oasis 54, Pahrump Valley 0

Scheduling Pahrump Valley for homecoming was the smartest move Desert Oasis could have made.
Desert Oasis 62, Pahrump Valley 6

Del gets back on track in the Southeast.
Del Sol 38, Coronado 15

Looks like I soon will be a resident of the Coronado school district. Still can't pick the Cougars.
Del Sol 34, Coronado 21

Foothill ready to ring Victory Bell another season.
Foothill 29, Silverado 18

Foothill answered all my questions and then some last week against Del Sol.
Foothill 28, Silverado 21

Liberty won't have another slow start.
Liberty 38, Green Valley 13

Knowing Liberty, it will be 3-3 at halftime.
Liberty 42, Green Valley 13

Canyon Springs is getting better each week.
Canyon Springs 50, Eldorado 23

The Pioneers are a lock to finish second in the Northeast.
Canyon Springs 49, Eldorado 10

The orange and black have seen better days.
Valley 32, Chaparral 20

Upset special, the Cowboys make the season even more miserable for the Vikings.
Chaparral 22, Valley 20

Raise your hand if you are ashamed this game is on the schedule.
Las Vegas 62, Sunrise Mountain 0

*Raises hand*
Las Vegas 62, Sunrise Mountain 0

Another lopsided final in the Southwest. What an awful league.
Durango 53, Sierra Vista 12

Can we just skip ahead to the last two games of the season when Durango plays Desert Oasis and Bishop Gorman?
Durango 56, Sierra Vista 9

Remember when this used to be a can't-miss game?
Bishop Gorman 52, Western 0

Let Phillip Payne suit up for the Warriors and they'd still lose.
Bishop Gorman 63, Western 6

Arbor View remains undefeated, tops Cheyenne for first time in school history.
Arbor View 23, Cheyenne 20

Arbor View has to lose sometime, right? Can't imagine Aggies undefeated heading into Palo Verde game at the end of the year.
Cheyenne 26, Arbor View 21

Don't count out Cimarron just yet.
Cimarron 25, Centennial 23

Centennial's confidence is at a high after two straight wins.
Centennial 24, Cimarron 16

Faith Lutheran starting to regain confidence.
Faith Lutheran 40, Mojave 0

Faith Lutheran needs to get ready to make a push for a playoff spot.
Faith Lutheran 52, Mojave 13

Palo Verde is the class of the Northwest.
Palo Verde 43, Shadow Ridge 0

Now that divisional play has started, Shadow Ridge has not lived up to the preseason hype.
Palo Verde 38, Shadow Ridge 14

The two-game league season starts with a win for Virgin Valley.
Virgin Valley 30, Boulder City 13

Virgin Valley is a state title contender in the 3A. Then again, everyone is a state title contender in the 3A.
Virgin Valley 26, Boulder City 7

Basic fans rewarded for 45-minute drive to follow team.
Basic 27, Legacy 20

The Wolves lost to Coronado the only other time Brewer picked them this season. This week, we'll find out if the curse really exists.
Basic 23, Legacy 21

This would be a great 3A classification game.
Moapa Valley 32, Clark 19

Pirates could struggle with Chris Jackson, but will find a way to win.
Moapa Valley 34, Clark 28

Give me Desert Pines. They are more physical.
Desert Pines 24, Rancho 19

This could end up as the best game of the week, but Desert Pines is rolling right now.
Desert Pines 15, Rancho 14

An earlier version of these picks did not include the Rancho at Desert Pines game. We apologize for the accident.

  1. I've always been a big supporter of Clark HS and was thrilled when the Chargers broke their four-year losing skid a few years back. I'm hoping they can sneak into the playoffs. ...As for saying schedule makers should be ashamed, that is strictly calling out officials who make Pahrump play in a league they will never be competitive in. Pahrump should be in the 3A or 2A. My alma mater, Chaparral, should join them -- along with Western, Sunrise Mountain, Mojave and a few others.

  2. Just added Desert Pines/Rancho. Sorry to Jaguars and Rams fans, we just missed it on the schedule somehow.

  3. Hey guys, here are my SE picks excluding Foothill's game because as an alumnus I refuse to pick their games haha

    Liberty 32 - Green Valley 20
    Coronado 21 - Del Sol 24
    Basic 24 - Legacy 10

  4. Mr. Brewer, good call but a little thin on Arbor's points. Mr. Keefer, you need better reasoning than that!! Arbor wins due to an amazing defense. The corners are great and the linebacking core has done everything asked of it all year long. The offensive line will have their work cut out for them but they are up to the task. Arbor by a touchdown plus! Ball control will be the key to the game. A little more variation on the offensive side of the ball will be that extra little bit that makes the difference. Go Aggies.

  5. Go figure. I lost one game this week -- Basic! ...Hey Dave, I was off by 40 points on that Arbor View total. BUT you needed four OTs to get there :)

  6. Ray - Gotta be the proud Dad for a minute. Marco got knocked silly in the second quarter by trying to break the wedge on a kick off. Look at the third quarter stats for Cheyenne. Marco was pulled from the game at half time and didn't return. Cheyenne threw the ball to the boundry and had their way for a bit. My boy stays healthy, the boundry corner would have been locked down and there would not have been 16 points scored. But that is just me being a pround dad. That game was amazing. I have never seen a high school game like that as a fan or as a coach. Amazing. Arbor's players have an amazing will to win. Good for them and huge kudos to Cheyenne. They played their hearts out.
