Dominance of Moapa and Gorman; who's No. 2: Liberty or Arbor View?

Las Vegas Sun sports reporters Ray Brewer and Case Keefer compare the run Moapa Valley is on in the Division 1-A to the one Bishop Gorman has put together this season in the upper decision. Other familiar arguments arise, including a debate on whether Arbor View should be considered as the second-best team in the state. Give us your thoughts in the comments.

It’s hard for a running back to score five touchdowns and not be the star of the show, but Cheyenne's defense was just that good in a 40-14 victory at Faith Lutheran on Friday.

Three interceptions. Five sacks. A couple of fumble recoveries. Those were the plays that defined this decisive knockout.

“Our kids bought into the system and went out there and executed,” assistant coach Sam Norris said.

Cheyenne led 20-0 at halftime and never relented. In an important game for both teams in terms of playoff seeding implications, Cheyenne left no doubt in moving to 4-0 in league play. Faith Lutheran fell to 2-2 in Division I Sunset play.

Cheyenne’s Myloe Lewis amassed 244 yards and five touchdowns on 20 carries. That rushing with this defense makes this team a tough draw as it works to get better every week.

“We know what we’re capable of every week,” Norris said. “… Piece by piece this team’s just been getting better. Our kid’s have been working hard and believing in what we’re trying to do.”
