For a while, Clark coach Don Willis’ players were driving him crazy. The Chargers had a sloppy first half Friday night and kept Western in the game before eventually pulling away for a 42-12 win.

“We had a lot of turnovers,” Willis said. “But our defense played really big. Our defense played great.”

Clark only led 14-6 at halftime, but the ground game picked up with the combination of Andre Clay, Chris Jackson and Derrick West in the second half.

Willis said, however, the defense starred in the victory. In the second half, the defense had three successful goal-line stands against the Warriors.

A disappointing first half turned into a dominant second half for Clark. “We got it together,” Willis said.
