across the Las Vegas area.

Silver's Picks
Last Week:
12-4

Season:
44-13

Basic takes advantage of another easy opponent.
Basic 32, Coronado 15

This one is to set up a marquee matchup with Del Sol next week.
Basic 21, Coronado 12

Del Sol has hangover from Las Vegas victory, but still wins.
Del Sol 20, Foothill 19

Any team that can beat Vegas High is good in my book.
Del Sol 28, Foothill 21

Liberty shows it going to be a contender in the Southeast.
Liberty 30, Green Valley 19

I'm sticking with my home turf. Gators pull off a minor upset.
Green Valley 17, Liberty 14

Silverado should have no problems with a rebuilding Sierra Vista squad.
Silverado 30, Sierra Vista 0

Madu-Jules is Mad-Good. Oh and don't sleep on Trenten Tipton.
Silverado 35, Sierra Vista 7

I won't be picking against Gorman this season.
Gorman 40, Desert Oasis 0

I feel like a broken record -- Gorman blowout. Wake me up for the playoffs.
Gorman 48, Desert Oasis 7

Canyon Springs opens league play with victory.
Canyon Springs 32, Eldorado 12

Eldorado will have to wait another week for its first victory.
.Canyon Springs 24, Eldorado 10

Las Vegas rebounds with easy win against Vikes.
Las Vegas 38, Valley 16

This will be the true test of Wildcats' star sophomores' maturity levels.
Las Vegas 28, Valley 14

It could be a rough season for my Cowboys.
Desert Pines 43, Chaparral 14

Chaparral just hasn't been the same since Brewer graduated.
Desert Pines 35, Chaparral 13

Faith Lutheran lands first 4A win against Rattlers.
Faith Lutheran 23, Mojave 7

How is Faith Lutheran still called the Crusaders? Not very PC, but they win anyways.
Faith Lutheran 14, Mojave 7

Struggling Shadow Ridge offense can't find answers against Palo Verde.
Palo Verde 46, Shadow Ridge 0

Throw in the white towel and turn the busses around because this could get ugly.
Palo Verde 42, Shadow Ridge 7

Cimarron proved it's a contender last week against Palo Verde.
Cimarron 29, Centennial 6

It's cool to be James Poole
Cimarron 21, Centennial 10

Upset special -- Cheyenne takes advantage of banged up Arbor View squad.
Cheyenne 16, Arbor View 13

I will give Arbor View one more chance, otherwise I will never pick them again this year.
Arbor View 21, Cheyenne 17

Bonanza's offense shines in lopsided win.
Bonanza 42, Pahrump 6

This should be an easy win to cement a playoff spot.
Bonanza 25, Pahrump 0

Chargers stay alive in Southwest Division race with victory.
Clark 33, Western 19

Clark is not a playoff team, but they'll pull this one out -- barely.
Clark 24, Western 20

Durango's Juilo Mora will be the best player on the field.
Durango 34, Spring Valley 29

Spring Valley has an attractive record, but no real quality wins.
Durango 27, Spring Valley 24

Legacy starts slow after drive to Mesquite.
Legacy 23, Virgin Valley 14

Enjoy this one Longhorns, because next up is Cimarron and Palo.
Legacy 30, Virgin Valley 17

3A Moapa Valley is better than most 4A teams.
Moapa Valley 30, Rancho 13

Could this game have NIAA realignment implications? I still can't pick a 3A team.
Rancho 20, Moapa Valley 19

  1. Brewer, you need to get out more often. Brandon Lopez from Spring Valley, 29 yd./avg a carry, 21 yd./avg a reception, come on Brewer, clean those glasses off.

  2. Glad you actually picked FOR Canyon this week!

  3. Half: BGHS-21 DOHS-11. Definitely not the 40-0 or 48-7 that was projected. Maybe D.O. is for real.

  4. bigmike....what is your final score prediction for the Gorman game?

  5. BGHS: -42, DOHS -11, No, DO is NOT FOR REAL yet!

  6. Big Mike...I think my 48-7 is pretty close to the 42-11. Sorry

  7. Watching the replay on my DVR on the TNL game, this #66 Wilkinson for Gorman, is this his first year playing football? Every time he makes a play he jumps up and down like a pop warner player, isn't that his job is to make plays. Come on, act like you've done that before.

  8. Haha. Ok Silver, I'll admit, you're the man. But you have to admit, it wasn't their typical blowout fashion. It's usually somewhere around 35-0 @ the half and then they stick in their JV's (that could still probably beat every varsity team in Vegas w/ the exception of a couple). At least D.O. Made it interesting. How do you think the SW will unfold?
I'm going to say: 1) Gorman 2) Durango 3) Spring Valley 4) Bonanza.

  9. I'd say 1. Gorman. 2. Spring Valley then 3/4 could go any combination of Durango, Bonanza or Desert Oasis.

  10. The best league in Las Vegas is the Southeast by far we are talking about a 17-3 record for the seven teams combined. This league should be the one being talked about not the southwest or any other league. This is how the Southeast is going to end up. 1. Silverado 2. Del Sol 3. Basic 4. Liberty and the rest are up in the air but I think Foothill gets fifth place. Silverado will also end up winning the sunrise beating Las Vegas.

  11. i don't see Spring Valley finishing 2nd, and considering that Durango just beat them last night, unless Durango trips up somewhere, there's no reason they can't win out. Durango is a very good team. Not great, but they still have some youth, they will be a very good team for years to come.
