Most everyone coming to Las Vegas would like to find an edge to put the betting odds in their favor, but some people go too far. Those are the stories behind "Cheating Vegas," a new documentary television series debuting Sunday.

When Silke Ortloff began choreographing a number for dancers from the Nevada Ballet and Las Vegas’ Cirque du Soleil shows, she had a major challenge to overcome — clothing. Ortloff usually works as artistic director and choreographer for Zumanity, the adults-only Cirque du Soleil show at New York-New York that features nude performers.

Michael Shetler — a beer, wine and cocktails expert — was drawn to Las Vegas 13 years ago to work at the newly opened Rosemary’s Restaurant. Ten years later, he left the now-closed restaurant to be the lead sommelier at Sage at Aria, then became the restaurant’s general manager. Today, Shetler is now director of beverage at Aria and enjoys a rare view of the Vegas food and beverage industry.

Looking for a cheap room on the Strip this week? Good luck. Room rates at the Riviera, normally one of the most affordable places in town, are more than eight times normal January prices, thanks to the annual International Consumer Electronics Show. The Riviera, which is close to the Convention Center, had rooms available for $39 this past Thursday night. Tuesday and Wednesday nights, those same rooms are going for $499.
