The Las Vegas Locomotives of the upstart United Football League opened training camp this week at the Casa Grande Performance Institute outside of Phoenix and officially announced their roster today.
The Locomotives have less than one month to prepare for the season opener on Oct. 8 against the California Redwoods at Sam Boyd Stadium. The Locomotives will play one more game at Sam Boyd on Oct. 14 prior to spending the remaining four weeks of the season on the road.
"The first two days of practice have been an awakening for the UFL with the players joining together and beginning practice as a cohesive unit," said Rick Mueller, UFL vice president and general manager. "Our coaches have told us that this group of players has equal talent to that of any other players they have coached and fans will be impressed when the teams take the field in three weeks. The players understand that most of them are being given a second opportunity to play professional football and are eager to train hard and show their talents."
