Las Vegas Sun reporters Ray Brewer and Steve Silver remember former Palo Verde coach David Castro while looking ahead to this week's games.

Expanded coverage

Foothill’s Connor Afoa proved to be the difference once again Friday as Foothill ran past Green Valley in a 21-10 victory.

Afoa ran for 150 yards and a touchdown and paced the Falcons throughout the night. Foothill improved to 5-3 heading into season-ending tilts with Silverado and Basic to determine if it will advance to the playoffs.

“We’ve put ourselves in a good position,” Foothill coach Marty Redmond said. “We like to control our own destiny and that’s where we’re at.”

Green Valley coach Matt Gerber said his team had chances in the game but just didn’t convert. The Gators twice got within the ten-yard line and didn’t score.

“Those were our opportunities,” Gerber said. “And we let them get away from us.”
