The Cheyenne defense held Centennial to 136 total yards en route to a 13-6 victory.

Cheyenne coach Perryn Hale described the game as a hard-hitting battle between two teams with playoff aspirations.

“It was a huge defensive battle,” Hale said. “Whenever we play Centennial, they aren’t afraid to put a hat on us.”

Cheyenne (4-3) made more big plays than Centennial (3-4) when it counted. Desert Shields Duhjuan Miller and Davion Moore both had key interceptions.

In the first quarter, Cheyenne quarterback Kody Stahl found Jordan Butler for a 30-yard touchdown pass.

The Desert Shields have now won four of their last five.

“We’re playing well at the right time,” Hale said. “It seemed like there was no light at the end of the tunnel at the beginning of the season, but we started putting it together and rolling.”
