Las Vegas Sun reporters Ray Brewer and Steve Silver break down last week's lopsided high school football contests and preview this Friday's upcoming games. They also discuss the latest news on the neck injury to Shadow Ridge's Zak Hill.

Silverado slammed Coronado 44-14 Friday night, but the victory didn't come as easily as the score might indicate.

The Skyhawks trailed the Cougars 14-9 at halftime, after an error-filled first half.

Silverado coach Andy Ostolaza said Coronado caught his team off guard by running almost every play.

“They ran our defense pretty good in the first half,” Ostolaza said. “We were missing a lot of tackles, and we put the ball on the ground.”

Silverado lost two fumbles that gave Coronado easy chances to score. At halftime, Ostolaza said, he tried to keep his players calm and reassure them they could rebound.

Behind the trio of quarterback Trenton Tipton, running back Terran Madu-Jules and fullback A.J. Smith, the Silverado offense put up big numbers in the second half.
