Brewer vs. Keefer

Las Vegas Sun reporters Ray Brewer and
Case Keefer attempt to pick
the winning team from prep contests
across the Las Vegas area.

Keefer's Picks
Last Week:
5-0

Season:
144-34 (.809)

Liberty’s ground attack and physical style of play is too much for Foothill.
Liberty 38, Foothill 23

Brewer’s been unimpressed with Liberty’s “physical style of play” all year. Why the sudden change? Patriots win a close one.
Liberty 35, Foothill 31

Nobody thinks Palo Verde has a chance — except the Panthers themselves.
Gorman 43, Palo Verde 12

Hoping Palo Verde can loosen up after last week’s scare against Centennial and make things halfway-interesting in this one.
Gorman 35, Palo Verde 10

I’d take Moapa Valley if the game were played in the South, but it’s not.
Truckee 23, Moapa Valley 10

Moapa Valley
vs.
Truckee

I’m a man of my word and all year I've said Moapa Valley would win a state championship.
Moapa Valley 24, Truckee 21

  1. Hopefully Liberty learns a lesson from the Centennial/Palo game and doesn't look ahead to Gorman when they have a live opponent this week.

Should be three good games. I'm hoping Moapa plays like they did in their better games this year and kills that meaningless Truckee win streak after Truckee wussed out and didn't go to Arizona to protect that win streak. Moapa has more size, Truckee has depth. Moapa has played and beaten better teams than Truckee this year I hope they don't lose the mental battle. I wouldn't be surprised if Truckee ran away with it but i'm pulling for the Pirates, they made me a fan in Arizona

    Liberty 41 Foothill 38
    Gorman 55 Palo Verde 14
    Moapa 21 Truckee 19

  2. Atta boy tuasdad! It's Moapa's year! Truckee doesn't play any powerful teams that I see. 3A south may have only two teams but 3A north only has about three competitive teams.

Moapa plays tough defense anchored by their nose tackle Taylor Schwartz who is hard to move and gets off blocks very well, obviously no bias opinion here haha, my brother or not, kids a beast!

Truckee has always been extremely well coached and that is their major strength.

If Moapa sticks to its game plan and can control the line of scrimmage like they can Moapa wins by a touchdown.

  3. Hopefully your boys know they have what it takes to win and represent the south. Legacy and Del Sol would kill most of the teams Truckee played and Moapa went 1-1 with a very close game against Legacy. I hope those Truckee kids in the back of their mind know that they have a winning streak with an asterisk on it for not taking that Sollenberger classic game. BTW Sho Low is in the 3A Arizona state semifinal. Go Pirates.

  4. Yeah having attended the game against Legacy, Legacy was a lot better team than Del Sol.

Also that win streak is kind of weak, although having a little brother playing for Moapa, he said that Truckee players via facebook did wish him luck against Show Low which was surprising. And having seen film of Truckee film, they are no where near what they have been in the past. Moapa all the way!

  5. Tuasdad, couldn't have said it better myself, cashback won't have anything to say after that. Truckee was scared to have their streak ended, and don't say they couldn't fund the trip because I'm almost certain that it was being funded privately hence Sollenberger Classic. Don't worry we made the trip, stayed in a really nice hotel on a golf course, and represented the state of nevada loud and proud. Both of Moapa's losses came against teams that from watching Truckee film, almost certain would have beaten Truckee.
