Taylor, who covers UNLV sports, is a 2010 graduate of the William Allen White School of Journalism at the University of Kansas. He worked for newspapers in Iowa, Kansas and Missouri before moving out to the desert, working seven months on the sports desk at the Arizona Republic before joining the Sun in November 2011. His outside passions include good books, bad coffee and the search for adequate leg room.

It appears UNLV football will be eligible for the postseason this year, after all. A source confirmed an earlier report that a miscalculation was the reason the Rebels’ Academic Progress Rate score fell below the NCAA’s minimum and that the new score meets the standard of 930.

UNLV’s incoming class is filled with guys who weren’t supposed to be here. Bishop Gorman High grad Ben Carter chose Oregon over the Rebels a couple years ago. Point guards Cody Doolin and Jerome Seagears both played nearly full collegiate careers at San Francisco and Rutgers, respectively, before trying to find something else for their final season.
