- The first half of Las Vegas GirlFestival was marred with low turnouts, and unfortunately, that streak continued Saturday night, as one of the festival’s final shows failed to draw any real audience to Beauty Bar. Luckily, the participants of the third annual showcase of female talent still found the good in GirlFestival.

- Hours before local cow punk heroes the Clydesdale's heavily attended CD launch party at Bunkhouse during Neon Reverb, a lesser-known band called Calicos stood on a stage five feet wide in a lesser-known bar called the Square Apple. Like the Clydesdale, the alt-rock trio is peddling their new album.

- Cow punk rockers The Clydesdale celebrated the release of their latest CD with an energetic party that only Neon Reverb could host. The show brought the band to the Bunkhouse along with The Mad Caps, Leopold and his Fiction and The Flametrick Subs. The music was great, and we couldn't pick just one favorite melodic moment from the night. However, there were some obvious standouts.

Months of preliminary, secondary and semi-final rounds chizzled the bunch to nine finalists, who played over two nights, Friday, Sept. 11, and Saturday, Sept. 12, to determine the winner — Zombie Shaker Box.
