Men's NCAA Basketball | UNLV | Roster
11 Chace Stanback
- Position: Guard/Forward
- Year: SO
- Height: 6′8″
- Weight: 210 lbs
- Hometown: Los Angeles, CA
- Previous School: Fairfax HS
- Birthday: Jun. 22, 1989
Nickname: (Unofficially: GQ?)
Strengths: Redshirting after leaving UCLA. He favored coach Lon Kruger’s style at UNLV much more than the plodding system of Bruins coach Ben Howland. Has looked dynamic in practice, grabbing strong boards in traffic, converting powerful two-handed jams in half-court sets and looking smooth in his 3-point and mid-range shooting.
Weaknesses: None that we’ve been able to see. Even his wardrobe is dapper. At the opener, he wore dark slacks, a light green dress shirt – with a white collar, French cuffs and shiny cuff links – with a light green tie.
At UCLA
Appeared in 25 games, averaging less than six minutes, as a freshman. The Bruins advanced to their third consecutive Final Four. He played in an opening blowout of Mississippi Valley State and didn’t leave the bench in three of UCLA’s next four NCAA tournament games.
At Los Angeles Fairfax High
Averaged 25.8 points and 11.9 boards as a senior, when the Lions went 28-5 and won a California Division-I title. Was named the state player of the year in his division. Rated as a top-20 national small forward by Rivals.com.
Quoting
“I’m already itching to play. It’s already started. But I’m hanging in there. I’m trying to stay in here as much as I can to work on my weaknesses, get my jumper right. It’s all I can do right now.”
