Las Vegas Sun sports reporters Ray Brewer and Case Keefer spend some extra time on the three biggest games of the week — Arbor View at Desert Pines, Chandler (Arizona) at Bishop Gorman and Liberty at Saint Louis (Hawaii) — before getting to their full picks. They also discuss the hypothetical first pick of a high school football fantasy draft.

For the second straight year Clark High opened its season with a win over Boulder City thanks to a big night from senior running back Milan Dixon.

Dixon ran for 246 yards and three touchdowns to propel the Chargers (1-0) to a 22-9 win over the Eagles (0-1) at Clark on Friday night.

The Chargers overcame multiple special teams mistakes and a first-half offensive drought to overtake the Eagles late.

“It was a sloppy game, but we won, so we are smiling,” said Clark coach Don Willis.

Clark took a 6-0 lead on its third drive of the game, but was unable to put any more points on the board before halftime.

One of two snaps that sailed over the Clark punter’s head resulted in a safety for Boulder City, and Clark led 6-2 at the midway point.

“The defense played great for most of the game,” Willis said.

They were led by senior linebackers Robert A’Hearn and Amir Boone, who Willis said were the Chargers’ leading tacklers.

Boulder City drove straight down the field on its opening drive of the second half to take a 9-6 lead — it would be its only lead of the game.

That is when Dixon took over. The 5-foot-6, 180-pound back carried the Chargers with two second half touchdown runs.

“He’s a special kid,” Willis said. “We just kept feeding him. He did his thing and got us the win.”

Junior quarterback Nick Kinnard added 100 rushing yards and converted a 2-point conversion for the Chargers.
