Recapping Gorman's scare, Green Valley's survival

Las Vegas Sun sports reporters Ray Brewer and Case Keefer glance back at last week's action, which included three of the best games of the year. Ensuing questions include debating the Sunrise Region's favorite, Bishop Gorman's vulnerability and Foothill's potential.

Xavier Steele scored four touchdowns (3 rushing, 1 receiving) to lead Boulder City to a 65-12 victory over Sunrise Mountain.

The Eagles (3-5, 1-3 Division I-A Sunrise) rushed for more than 380 yards with nine players having at least one carry.

“We’re back at full strength,” Boulder City coach Alex Kazel said.

Steele led the way, toting the rock eight times for 125 yards with three touchdowns. He also took a pass 51 yards for the score.

Nelson Van Diest added 67 yards on 11 carries with two touchdowns, while Sam Woodbury had nine carries for 117 yards and a touchdown.

Defensively, Boulder City got touchdowns from Jacob Gniting and Peyton Koopman.

“We forced turnovers and that was key to get good field position,” Kazel said. “We had the ball in their territory quite a bit.”

Sunrise Mountain dropped to 1-7 (0-4).
