Las Vegas Sun sports reporters Ray Brewer and Case Keefer bring all the ranting and raving any Southern Nevada high school football fan could ever want on the fourth episode of this year's podcast. Brewer further fuels his detractors at Centennial and predicts a lopsided victory in favor of Bishop Gorman. Does Keefer agree? Listen to find out.
Green Valley High sophomore quarterback Christian Lopez rushed for four touchdowns and passed for another Friday in a 59-33 victory against visiting Del Sol.
Four of Lopez’s scores came in the second half as Green Valley (1-1) outscored Del Sol 28-6 in pulling away for their first win of the season.
Lopez wasn’t the lone Green Valley rusher to enjoy success. Running back Gino Jonassaint scampered for more than 200 yards and three touchdowns, out-dueling Del Sol back Cameron Lamont. Lamont had two touchdowns and 200-plus rushing yards.
“The running game worked real well for us,” Green Valley coach Brian Castro said. “That was a good win for us against a good program. I know it was 59-33, but it was a much tougher game (than the score indicates).”
Lopez’s passing touchdown was a 40-yard scoring strike to Markus Varner.
