It appears that the Sun has decided to make a quick run to the far right with its recent endorsement of Joe Heck for Congress in the 3rd District.
I agree with Paul Freeman’s recent letter, “Heck would be a terrible choice/” I also was shocked and distressed with the Sun’s endorsement. I guess the old saying that “politics makes for strange bedfellows” is still very true.
Heck has done little to help Nevada during his brief stay in Washington; I suspect he has never met a Tea Party member whom he disliked or disagreed with. His stand against the Environmental Protection Agency and his statements about a woman’s right to choose make him unacceptable to many voters.
Heck is part of the political spectrum that believes that marching backward is what is best for this country. His views are basically views that a majority of the country endorsed during the 1950s. Of course, we’re no longer in the 1950s.
What Heck offers to the Nevada voters represents nothing that I desire, agree with or need.
Hopefully, the voters in Nevada’s 3rd District will ignore the Sun’s endorsement and not throw their vote away.

I give the Sun some credit here because they did something more voters on both sides should do. They took two candidates; one of which holds some views they disagree with but has done a decent job in office and one who is a poor candidate who has shown bad judgment and who has demonstrated a lack of understanding of the issues... and endorsed the proper candidate.
We already have too many people, on both sides, in Congress who do not belong there. The Sun realizes we should not send another one there. More voters, on both sides, should use the same logic.

Larry lament "What Heck offers to the Nevada voters represents nothing that I desire, agree with or need." absolutely NOTHING
--
So Larry desires higher taxes, more rules, bigger government, more food stamps, chronic unemployment, costly energy, underwater homes, failed middle-east policy, no growth, deficit spending.
Dr. Heck will take a page from Governor Romney, soon to be president elect Romney, who took a page from President Reagan. Take the right wing conservative money and support, then tell them to sit down and get out of the way. So he can lead the country from the moderate center.
CarmineD
Larry, the LV Rag picks a token Republicrats to endorse and you're upset? Good thing you're not in charge or we'd all have to toe your leftist line!
Carmine, Of all the votes Heck has cast what percentage have been anything other than toeing the party line?
Carmine....
Answer Mark Schaffer's question.
Hmmmmm.....what's that sound that I hear?
Crickets? Crickets?
Yeah, some of these people would prefer an empty suit retired firefighter-John Oceguera- who doesn't even have a political philosophy other then regurgitating "war on woman" grunt, "big oil" grunt, "Wall Street" grunt. And whose only reason for running is to get at that taxpayer funded salary to supplement his taxpayer firefighter salary. I will take Dr Joe Heck over this guy any day of the week. Once again we get to see that liberal/leftwing kooks will support anyone and I mean anyone simply because they belong to the Democrat Party.

Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha!
Now tht's funny....
What planet is my little buddy Carmine living on?
Joe Heck is NOT a moderate in any way what so ever.
The same applies to Mitt Romney. How does Carmine think that "mittens" got the GOP nomination in the first place?
The support of the moderates with in the GOP????
Carmine...there's no longer any true moderates with in the Republican Party. Most were thrown under the bus a long, long time ago...
The right-wing money and support that has been given to both Romney & Heck will demand that both men toe the extreme right-wing line & march in unison (that's called goose-stepping...)"with the Tea Party....
American corporations & "fat cats" don't give millions (maybe even billions) with out expecting a great deal in return.....
Please Carmine.....crawl out from under that rock that you call home & see what's really going on....
Yep, Heck & Romney are moderates......Now that's funny!
Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha!

Future...I believed you're confused! I don't believe the letter writer was endorsing the George W Bush way of doing things....
You DO remember George don't you? He's the guy who got us in our currrent mess....
What ever happened to George? I figured he would be out working for the election of Romney & many other GOP candidates..
I kept expecting George to make a speech or two at the Republican National Convention but he never did...
Why was that?
Bill Clinton was in attendance at the Democrat National Convention and gave a speech while there...
Did you see it? Quite a speech. It "fired up" the entire convention.
A person that would vote for Obama then Heck would definitely be inconsistant. The doctor offers a bag of bad medicine- a Ayn Rand type of economic quakery.
"Please Carmine.....crawl out from under that rock that you call home & see what's really going on...."
I did. The Rock of Ages. You should try it.

In some respects, we need to step back, way back. Enough of the giveaways and government intrusion and return to self reliance and self sufficiency with only a basic safety net for those who have held gainful employment, produced, performed but not for everybody else.
Just that 1% ; right rosie ?
Yeah lets step back to medieval europe that would improve things.
Yeah....that is what we need....a guy (Heck's opponent) who total compensation was over $450,000 from the taxpayers last year.
His annual pension is probably like $150k a year.
We need more people like that in the government.
That is what the Democrats are all about.
Taking taxes from one group of people and giving it to another group of people.
did you make that stuff up and are you really a "sgt." ?
EL says "Bill Clinton was in attendance at the Democrat National Convention and gave a speech while there..."
Who is running for Prez. Clinton or Obama
Obama is channelling Clinton
But Obama is no Bill Clinton
Future....
Yes, Obama & Clinton are not the same person. I'm glad you realize that....
How long did it take you to figure that out?
Ha! Ha! Ha!
Of course, I continue to wonder where the "clueless guy" is these days.
My guess is that the Romney campaign has told George junior "thanks but no thanks" when it comes to using junior on the campaign trail...
Of course, Romney screws up enough by himself with out adding junior to the mix...
Clinton is a "master campaigner" & there has been few equals to him in our long history.....
All joking aside, Obama is not a Clinton when it comes to campaigning but Barrack is pretty darn good!
I guess right-wingers such as you have convinced yourself that the Democrats are playing unfairly by using Clinton on the campaign trail....do I have that right?
I just got a "Romney For President" phone call. They were trying to get me to donate to his campaign.
They appear to be in a real panic, saying that they needed to raise $50 million before mid-night.
According to the message, they're going to spend all of it in a few of the swing states....states that Obama is leading in according to the latest polls....
Hey, have you seen the latest poll numbers in Ohio? Obama is holding on to his head. You probably know that a Republican has never been elected president with out carrying Ohio...RIGHT?
The last part of my post should have said:
"Hey, have you seen the latest poll numbers in Ohio? Obama is holding on to his lead.
You probably know that a Republican has never been elected president with out carrying Ohio...RIGHT?"

Larry......Great letter, SPOT ON!
No average or low income Nevadan can afford
another extreme right-wing republican, PERIOD!
THESE REPUBLICANS HAVE GONE OFF THE DEEP END!
Heck and all of these extreme republicans want to
get rid of The Affordable Care Act AND HAVE NO
REPLACEMENT FOR IT.
AND DE-FUND PLANNED PARENTHOOD.
How much more proof do average Americans need?
THESE HEARTLESS REPUBLICANS WILL DRAG US
BACKWARDS!!!
NEVER VOTE REPUBLICAN!!!
"Carmine, Of all the votes Heck has cast what percentage have been anything other than toeing the party line?"
If he were a democrat, you'd praise him for voting in lock step with Obama, Pelosi, and Reid. As a GOP, you condemn him for it. What's wrong with this picture?
CarmineD
Carmine.....
I'm sure you know but refuse to admit that the Democrats allowed for a great deal more flexibility, a great more differences of opinion with in their party, when it comes to voting on certain issues...
That's because the Democrat Party has moderates, liberals and conservatives (they're called "blue dog Democrats") with their ranks. The Democrats don't simply line-up in one long line and march collectively forward (that's called goose stepping..) on each & every issue....
As you know, the Republicans do that daily, weekly and yearly.........differences of opinion are not allowed with in the GOP.
Any Republican who refuses to go along with party mandates is, sooner or later, thrown under the bus..
I have always enjoyed what Will Rogers said about the Democrats...
He said:
"I don't belong to a political party, I'm a Democrat."
It was a simple question for Carmine that he is unable to give a straightforward answer to.
No Mr. Schaffer, more like a simple minded question.
CarmineD
"As you know, the Republicans do that daily, weekly and yearly.........differences of opinion are not allowed with in the GOP."
Yeah.....this coming from the party that kick Lieberman to the curb.
You guys are all singing and holding hands....never intolerant of any other Democrats ideas or people.
I got some beach front property on Trop and Eastern. It is 1 bedroom studio. I sell to you for $1 million. I sure you will buy it if you buy the above BS.
Ahhh... cheap sarcasm in place of an answer.
Private Pebble said:

Ha! Ha! Ha!
Now that's funny!
Actually, Mr Dino (that's Joe Lieberman) did that to himself.
He, as the Democrat VP candidate for president in 2000, traveled across the country campaigning for a health care system that today is basically known as Obamacare...
By 2008 Joe was speaking out against the same health care ideas and voting against Obamacare...
Joe had become a "Benedict Arnold" and had joined the GOP in everything but name.... In 2008 Joe endorsed John McCain for president and he gave a very important speech at the GOP National Convention that same year.
Of course, Joe knew who was buttering his bread regularly and that was the insurance companies.........particularly those in his home state...
In short, Joe sold himself to the highest bidder.
His run as an independent after his primary defeat in 2006 was more about Joe than it was about the people of Connecticut or the Democrat Party...
Joe loves that special interest money and will join his wife as a lobbyist for the big insurance companies not long after leaving the Senate this coming January.....
Comic book Sgt how many dubious medicare claims did the sleazy doctor receive ?
"Ahhh... cheap sarcasm in place of an answer."
No sir, cheap sarcasm as an answer.
CarmineD
Well, that's that, no one should take Carmine seriously.
