Thoughts on realignment, Centennial's challenge and Green Valley's latest romp

Las Vegas Sun sports reporters Ray Brewer and Case Keefer touch on every high school football team in the valley and more on this week's episode. The topics, rants and disagreements are at an all-time high, so brace your ears and get ready to take sides.

Christian Lopez completed 11 of 12 passes for 205 yards and four touchdowns Friday to lead the Green Valley High football team to a 68-0 win against visiting Rancho for the Gators’ sixth straight win.

On the receiving end of Lopez’s passes, senior Quintin Kohorst led the way with three catches for 94 yards and a touchdown, and Markus Varner had two catches for 51 yards. Kyler Chavez and Adonis Todd also had touchdown catches for the Gators.

Alec Ramirez led the rushing attack with two touchdowns and 74 yards on seven carries, and Gino Jonassaint added a pair of touchdown runs on eight carries.

Defensively, Green Valley (6-1 overall, 3-0 Northeast) had two interception returns for a touchdown — from Gio Hernandez and Daniel Harrison.

Next week, the Gators will put their winning streak on the line against defending league champion Canyon Springs in a game that will decide this year’s Northeast champion.

“Canyon Springs is a good team,” Green Valley coach Brian Castro said. “We are definitely going to need a good week of practice to get ready for them.”
