Sophomore running back Saunjay Meyer gave the Cheyenne High football team a spark offensively Friday in its 28-13 victory against host Mojave.
Meyer, who was promoted from the junior varsity team, had a touchdown run in his debut to help Cheyenne snap a three-game losing skid. Quarterback Kenneth Counts also scored for the Desert Shields (3-4 overall, 2-4 Northwest), which must win its final two games to reach the postseason.
“In this conference (the Northwest) it always comes down to the end,” Cheyenne coach David Cochran said. “We’ll see if we can get a win next week to stay in the hunt.”
Jaylon Walker added a touchdown for Cheyenne and Quashon Haynes returned an interception 65 yards for a score.
