Bonanza wins slugfest with Clark

The Bonanza High football team won a back-and-forth battle 62-54 Friday against host Clark.

Sophomore Brett Doyle returned an interception more than 90 yards as time expired to seal the victory. Clark had the ball inside the Bonanza 5-yard line with 15 seconds to play and trailing by one point before Doyle’s heroics.

“It was an amazing game to be part of,” Bonanza coach Shawn Dupris said. “Just back and forth the whole game and a lot of excitement.”

DaSean Martin Bonanza the lead for good with 1:04 to play in the fourth when he scored on a reception of more than 70 yards on a fourth-down play. A defensive stop would have given Clark the victory, but they couldn’t contain Martin — a Division I prospect with multiple scholarship offers.

“He must have broke three or four tackles and found a way to take it to the house,” Dupris said.
