A Las Vegas woman charged with driving under the influence and rear-ending a Metro Police officer on a motorcycle in December has been indicted by a Clark County grand jury.

Dana Saunders, 34, is charged with driving under the influence with substantial bodily harm after she allegedly struck the officer's motorcycle with her 2001 Jeep Cherokee. She was arrested after the crash and booked into the Clark County Detention Center, where she is being held on $200,000 bail.

Saunders is set to be arraigned in district court on Feb. 11. A preliminary hearing in the case had been set for Feb. 17.

The 45-year-old officer, William Home, has been with Metro since 1992. He was seriously injured and taken to University Medical Center.

Evidence at the scene and witness statements indicate Saunders’ Jeep was headed east in the left lane of Sahara Avenue, passing other vehicles as it approached Buffalo Drive, when it ran into the rear of the motorcycle at about 8 p.m. on Dec. 16, police said. The motorcycle was also eastbound, in the left lane, when the wreck occurred.

Home has since been released from the hospital but is still recovering, authorities said. He suffered substantial injuries, including a dislocated flattened pelvis. Saunders wasn’t injured.
