Las Vegas Sun reporters Case Keefer and Ray Brewer discuss the upcoming high school football season. They will let you know whether or not anyone can dethrone defending state champion Bishop Gorman, release their state title sleepers teams and give a quick breakdown of the area's 30-plus schools.
The Shadow Ridge High football team had only won three games in the last two years entering their season opener Friday night against visiting Sierra Vista.
That’s what happens when you start eight sophomores on the varsity, something the Mustangs did in 2008 in building for the future.
Now with a strong senior class, Shadow Ridge showed its improvements with a 31-0 win against Sierra Vista.
Quarterback Nick McDearmon had a 3-yard touchdown run, Tyler Rebholz scored on a 32-yard run and Alex Martinez returned a block punt for a touchdown in the victory.
“The biggest difference right now is that experience,” Shadow Ridge coach Gabe Gledhill said.
Erick Thompson added a 55-yard scoring reception from Jordan Brown.
