A man who allegedly shot his girlfriend to death in an apparent murder-attempted suicide Monday has been charged with murder, the Clark County District Attorney’s Office said today.
Kelly Dicaro, 51, is being held without bail in connection with the shooting death of his girlfriend, Denise Ebarb, at their home in the 7800 block of Brookfield Cove Avenue in Las Vegas. Dicaro is charged with murder with use of a deadly weapon.
According to an arrest report, Dicaro called 911 at 1:25 p.m. Monday and told dispatchers he had shot his girlfriend. When the operator asked if she was alive, Dicaro said “no” and also stated that he had shot her twice, then shot himself in the throat and was bleeding to death.
When Metro Police officers responded, they found Dicaro holding his neck and placed him in handcuffs. They also found Ebarb dead in the kitchen. When they asked Dicaro who shot her, he said “I did,” the arrest report indicated.
He told police he shot her in the head with a rifle from the home’s balcony, according to the report.
As he was en route to University Medical Center to be treated for his injuries, officers asked Dicaro why he shot her. He responded that she did something worse than cheating on him but wouldn’t elaborate, according to arrest records.
At the hospital, when police placed Dicaro under arrest and told him they were investigating the death, he immediately responded, “I shot her,” the report said.
A search of the home yielded a Ruger 7mm rifle as well as a .22-caliber Ruger. Police said evidence indicates that Dicaro shot Ebarb twice with the .22-caliber from the home's second floor landing while she stood in the downstairs kitchen. The rifle then jammed and Dicaro shot himself in the neck with the 7mm.

thanks again Harry Reid for all you've done for Nevada.
Aim for the brainstem, not the neck! Doofus! A 7mm should be more than enough to off yourself. Total incompetence.
yes, because a senator is responsible for the behavior and actions of someone who is mentally insane? so your telling me a better senator would have been there to stop all this? please stop blaming the government for the lack of parenting or proper care from someones family. take some responsibility!
I think the 7mm exited and hit planetearthcalling in the head, giving him a frontal lobotomy,it's the only thing that makes sense.
Sounds like Planet is mad that it's legal to own a gun in Nevada. Maybe this guy didn't LEGALLY own his gun though.
Anyway, it's so sad that SOME (not all, VERY VERY small percentage) of gun owners do these types of things. Sounds like this boyfriend was jealous of something. Maybe she wanted to leave him?
I agree with you, lvsigns. Too many people expect the government to raise their families for them. This is why we're in the mess we are currently in.
As a gun owner, I have never shot my husband and I will never do so either.
Your hubby is glad to hear it.
Its sad to hear this and that both sides of the familys are hurting. Not all people who shoot others are nuts. And whatever happened we will never know. This man was my relitive and not on drugs, or crazy or jealous. I hope that he does get help. But the way our system works I doubt that the help will come. I pray for her family and daughter and for his parents.
The world is spinning towards destruction quicker than the world wants to accept,What ever demons came to embrase this corrupted soul did what the demon wanted him to do because he already had malice in his heart to take the girl's life. I am almost finish with college to be an investigator and its people who committe crimes of this type that needs to be taken out of society and locked down enough to make them to always think about the life he took. my stance if you are ill then get the help you need because homicide will get you sooner or later unless someone decides to take you out first.
To Petergun, I do agree with you in every way and your right I won't be seeing him for a long time. And he shouldn't get away with what he did, and he should spend the whole time and not get off easy. They all still need family and prayers. Its just sad ya know? And yeah I am confused on the whole thing.
I don't know what the man whom alledgedly shot his girlfriend on Labor Day felt, "was worse than going out on me". Does any action on a partner's behalf, beginning with the act of "ADULTRY" on up, neccesitate or warrant two slugs in the back of the head?
The mere fact that he put two bullets to the brain of this woman is cause for his immediate disposal!
