2 women killed in domestic violence shootings identified
Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2009 | 11:07 a.m.
The Clark County Coroner's Office on Tuesday identified a woman in northwest Las Vegas and another in North Las Vegas shot to death over the Labor Day weekend.
Metro Police are investigating a Monday afternoon shooting of a woman, Denise Ebarb, who died from her injuries. The coroner's office said an official cause and manner of death were pending.
But police said the woman was shot inside a home on Brookfield Cove Avenue, near the intersection of Grand Teton Drive and Cimarron Road, east of U.S. 95. A man at the home was taken to University Medical Center with critical injuries, police said. Investigators said the shooting was a case of domestic violence.
In a separate case, a woman was found dead in an apparent murder-attempted suicide in North Las Vegas on Saturday after police responded to reports of a domestic disturbance in the 4900 block of Rancho Domingo Court.
North Las Vegas Police found 38-year-old Maria Herrera of North Lake Vegas, who had died of multiple gunshot wounds inside the home, authorities said.
A 46-year-old man from Cibolo, Texas, was taken to a hospital in critical condition with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said.
The cause and manner of death has not been released by the coroner's office.

what a sad state of tragedy; north las veg must have a permanent black cloud over its city limits.
keep reaching for the stars, north las vegas!
The first killing happened in northwest Las Vegas, not North Las Vegas. Domestic violence occurs in all zip codes, in all socio-economic backgrounds--stop trying to pigeonhole a certain area.
The comments should be about why certain men feel the need to kill their wife/girlfriend and then themselves. Why don't they just kill themselves?
What these women must have endured living with these men--only to have their lives violently cut short. May they finally find peace.
ahh...
women usually do this to themselves. they fall for the "bad boy".
Steven,no one whether female or male does this to themselves. No body intentionally chooses to be beaten or murdered. To make that statements shows your own ignorance about domestic violence and the mentality and psychology of it. Perhaps you should visit some of the abuse shelters, and get educated before putting your foot in your mouth again.
stillcrying - you're correct that nobody intentionally chooses to be beaten or murdered. However, after the first time they've been beaten, they have a choice of leaving or going back. Unfortunately, in way to many cases they make the wrong choice and go back.
Thats because rarely does physical abuse happen by itself. Most of the time mental abuse accompanies it, and that can be far more damaging, and thats why many of them stay. Experienced it first hand growing up.
It's not good. first of all he was my friend and she took him for everything he had. he was a good man and that woman did damage to him mentally. Im not saying it's right but no one really knows what he went through. Her family doesnt know the story. They only knew what she told them.
