Canyon Springs continued its impressive turnaround Friday with a 20-12 victory against Valley.
A year after finishing 1-9, Canyon Springs is 5-2 and headed for the playoffs. Still, Canyon Springs coach Hunkie Cooper said the Pioneers have a lot to learn.
“Guys are still trying to learn how to win,” Cooper said. “They don’t have that killer instinct yet and don’t know how to put teams away.”
Valley stuck with Canyon Springs, but Devin Rimmey eventually proved too much to handle. Rimmey rushed for nearly 300 yards and a couple touchdowns.
Cooper, however, said the Pioneers’ offensive linemen were the stars of the night.
“They blocked extremely well,” Cooper said.
