Pedestrian killed

The 55-year-old woman who was killed on East Charleston Boulevard Tuesday night has been identified as Susana Ramirez of Las Vegas, the Clark County Coroner's Office said today.

The woman's death was ruled an accident. She died from several traumatic injuries after being struck by a car, a coroner's spokeswoman said.

Investigators said that the woman was crossing Charleston near Nellis Boulevard from north to south when she was struck by a PT Cruiser driven by 32-year-old Nathan Singh of Las Vegas about 7:15 p.m. She was not in a marked crosswalk or at an intersection when she was struck, police said.

The PT Cruiser's driver was going east in the right lane of Charleston and has not been charged in the collision, police said. The left side of the car hit the right side of the woman, police said. She was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical crews.

Singh had minor injuries, police said. Two passengers in the car, Ruth Ochoa, 38, and Michael Borris, 33, both of Las Vegas, were not injured in the collision, police said.

This is the 70th traffic death in Metro Police jurisdiction this year.
