Las Vegas Sun reporters Ray Brewer and Steve Silver are all over the map this week as regular season comes to an end for football and the NIAA once again redraws soccer brackets.

Expanded coverage

This year’s Battle for Boulder Highway certainly lived up to its billing.

Despite trailing for most of the game, Basic came back to beat Foothill 21-13 in the fourth quarter.

“We’ve been fighting all year,” Basic coach Jeff Cahill said. “We’ve had a lot of games that were close and came down to the wire. We were able to pull it out again.”

Going into the game, it looked like Foothill would have to win to make the playoffs. But because Green Valley upset Silverado, Foothill still qualified for the playoffs over Silverado.

Foothill will take on Las Vegas in the first round next week. Meanwhile, Basic will square off against Desert Pines.
