Las Vegas Sun reporters Ray Brewer and Steve Silver are all over the map this week as regular season comes to an end for football and the NIAA once again redraws soccer brackets.

The first thought that popped into Palo Verde coach Darwin Rost’s mind while watching film on Desert Oasis was a scary one.
“They were the type of team that had all the makings to upset us,” Rost said. “They are well-coached, they run the spread and the option well and played well their last three games.”
But nothing even close to an upset occurred. Palo Verde punished Desert Oasis 48-7 in the first round of the playoffs.
The Panthers did it behind Brandon Wright, who had 164 yards rushing.
“Our kids really rose to the occasion and did what they needed to do to win the game,” Rost said.
Next week, Palo Verde will take on Bishop Gorman in the most anticipated game of the year.
