Fatal shooting

Metro Police have arrested 19-year-old Jose Granados of Las Vegas in a Monday triple shooting that left one person dead and two wounded.

Granados has been booked into the Clark County Detention Center and charged with one count of murder with a deadly weapon and two counts of attempted murder with a deadly weapon, police said.

Police are also searching for another person, 30-year-old Ricardo Granados-Corea of Las Vegas, who is 5-foot-9-inches tall and weighs about 185 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.

Granados-Corea was last seen driving a 2006 Honda Ridgeline bearing California license plates 7W13664, police said. The vehicle is white with tinted windows.

The man who died in the neighborhood shooting was identified Tuesday.

The Clark County Coroner's Office said 20-year-old Juan Carlos Benitez of North Las Vegas died of multiple gunshot wounds as a result of homicide, a spokeswoman said late this afternoon.

The shooting took place near Sahara Avenue and Decatur Boulevard after Metro Police received a call about 12:25 p.m. that shots had been fired in the 5000 block of West Edna Avenue at Edmond Street in Las Vegas, Officer Bill Cassell said.

Preliminary information released late Monday afternoon revealed that one of the three shooting victims was having an ongoing dispute with a man who lives at a residence in the same block where the shooting occurred, Cassell said.

The conditions of the two shooting victims aren't known. They were taken to a hospital for treatment, Cassell said.

Wynn and Roundy elementary schools were locked down Monday while police investigated the shooting.
