Palo Verde’s Torin Harris showed Friday night why he’ll be playing at USC next season.
Harris had four touchdowns -- two rushing, one receiving and one via kickoff return -- to lead the Panthers past visiting Sierra Vista, 35-6.
Palo Verde had three possessions in the first half and scored each time. Harris, who committed to USC this summer, put the game out of reach by returning the opening kickoff of the second half 85 yards for a score.
“I wouldn’t kick to him,” Palo Verde coach Darwin Rost said. “He had one of those special kind of nights.”
The Panthers only passed the ball three times in the win. One of those throws was a Kelly Zurowski 16-yard scoring strike to Harris.
Harris also rushed for 42 yards on five carries, including scoring runs of 4 and 15 yards. Chaz Thomas added 66 yards on 11 carries and a 10-yard touchdown run.
Sierra Vista’s touchdown came in the second quarter on an Akil Sharp 35-yard run. Sharp finished with 105 yards on 16 carries.
