Missing Legion signs returned

Most of the serviceman memorial signs gone missing from Veterans Memorial Drive last week had resurfaced in their places by Tuesday.

Doug McHam, commander of the Boulder City post of the American Legion, said about 74 signs are standing, but 30 are still missing.

About 90 signs created and hung by the American Legion were discovered missing Friday, officer Dave Krumm said. They were worth $4,050 together, legion members said.

The heavy aluminum boards carry the names of military members who attended a Boulder City school. When the service members leave the military, they are given the sign as a memento.

McHam said he suspects the theft and replacing was a practical joke, but no legion members have clues as to who is responsible.

He said the legion will replace the remaining missing signs unless they too show up again.

The police do not have any information about the theft, Krumm said.

Anyone with information about the thefts should call Boulder City Police.
