$4,050 worth of signs honoring servicemen stolen

Updated Monday, Dec. 15, 2008 | 7:47 p.m.

About 90 signs along Veterans Memorial Drive honoring serviceman from Boulder City have been stolen, police said.

The signs, created and hung by the Boulder City post of the American Legion, were discovered missing Friday, officer Dave Krumm said. They were worth $4,050 together, legion members said.

The heavy aluminum boards carry the names of military members who attended a Boulder City school. When the service members leave the military, they are given the sign as a memento.

The police do not have any information about the theft, Krumm said, stalling the investigation.

The offense could bring grand larceny charges, he said.

Doug McHam, commander of the legion, said he figured thieves took the signs to sell the aluminum.

He said the legion has not decided whether to replace them.

Anyone with information about the thefts should call Boulder City Police.
