Wranglers sign Michigan Tech defenseman

The Las Vegas Wranglers (31-29-8) signed defenseman John Schwarz to an amateur tryout agreement Thursday after releasing Mat Robinson from his ATO.

Schwarz, a bruising 6-foot-3, 215-pounder should make his pro debut Friday against the Alaska Aces (43-22-3) at the Orleans Arena.

The Calgary native just wrapped up a four-year career at Michigan Tech, where he racked up 13 points and 217 penalty minutes in 126 games. Prior to his college career, Schwarz terrorized the Alberta Junior Hockey League with 649 penalty minutes in 172 games.
