The Las Vegas Wranglers released rookie defenseman Mat Robinson from an amateur tryout agreement early Wednesday morning following Tuesday's 5-3 loss to the Alaska Aces.
The 22-year-old Calgary native will return to the University of Alaska-Anchorage to complete his degree in natural sciences. If the Wranglers are still in the playoffs when he graduates in May, then Robinson could rejoin the team.
Robinson scored one goal and added an assist in his first professional game in a 5-2 victory against the Ontario Reign on March 20.
