CB Brown commits to UNLV: Harrison to announce Tuesday at 2 p.m.

While UNLV awaits word from former Palo Verde star Jarrell Harrison, Mike Sanford and his staff landed their 14th commitment for the 2009 class on Monday afternoon in the form of cornerback Kenny Brown.

Brown, who will sign on Wednesday as a mid-year transfer from College of the Canyons in Valencia, Calif., is the younger brother of Curtis Brown, who played running back at BYU in 2002 and from 2004-06.

This is just another step in the Rebels shoring up a secondary that was spotty at best this past season as UNLV went 5-7. Of the 14 verbals, six of them are defensive backs.

Two others came on Sunday from Dunbar (Md.) High senior Courtney Bridget and Bishop Gorman senior John Therrell -- the son of UNLV defensive coordinator Dennis Therrell.

Of those six defensive back commits, Brown is the third from the juco ranks. The Rebels hope to add a fourth on Tuesday afternoon in the form of Harrison.

The former UNLV signee, now a star safety at City College of San Francisco, informed the Sun on Monday evening that he will announce his decision at 2 p.m. Tuesday on the "Talkin' Sports with RT" show on 920 AM.

He also said he still will choose from three schools -- UNLV, Missouri and North Carolina State.

Stay tuned to www.lasvegassun.com/rebels on Tuesday afternoon for news of Harrison's decision.
