Should we make it illegal to build in areas with major earthquake history? Sure these places were first settled into prior to knowing earthquakes happened there, but you'd think after time and time again somebody would get a clue. They must not think much of human lifes. Then they scream at the rest of us for not sending more rescue efforts and money when the inevidable happens. I mean, fires, tornadoes and floods come to you, those are unavoidable. But earthquakes, come on. I'd truly rather live in a lifeless desert then expose my family to guaranteed disaster.
...and don't even get me started about 'looters'.
I'm from the Bugs Bunny school of plate tectonics.
Remember the cartoon where Bugs was standing out on a limb and Yosemite Sam was sawing the brach off? As soon as Sam had sawed through the branch, the tree fell down leaving Bugs standing on the limb floating in the air. Bugs looked at the viewer and said, "I realize this breaks the law of gravity, but I never studied law."
I believe that when the big one hits, everything east of California will fall off into the Atlantic.
