Paul Kraft fell in love with Wahoo’s Fish Taco 11 years ago in Costa Mesa, Calif. Last year, he decided to combine his love with his work. He obtained franchise rights from the chain and brought Wahoo’s Fish Taco to Las Vegas.

A neighbor said she heard an explosion Friday and looked outside to see a large column of smoke and flames coming from the backyard of a house in the 100 block of Ocotillo Street in Henderson.

One of Southern Nevada’s largest shopping centers — the Galleria at Sunset mall in Henderson — is set to undergo a $7 million renovation, its first since it opened in 1996. Construction is scheduled to begin this month and is slated for completion in the fall. Six Las Vegas Valley restaurants have landed on a list of the best places to eat in the country. OpenTable.com, a restaurant reservations website, sifted through more than 15 million reviews to name 100 winners in the "2013 Diners' Choice Award." More than 15,000 restaurants were considered. Nevada came in fifth place for number of winners, trailing California, Florida, New York and Illinois.

No deal reached: Stadium developer's team heads to mediation

Two consultants who were sued alongside would-be sports arena developer Chris Milam are heading to private mediation after failing to settle the case. Milam's land consultant Michael Ford and public relations-lobbying chief Lee Haney have not reached an agreement with Henderson City Hall, said Dennis Kennedy, a lawyer for the city, which sued the group on fraud allegations two months ago.

A man who died in a head-on car crash Tuesday after driving miles in the wrong direction on U.S. 95 was identified today as Jose Edward Gonzalez, 30, of Riverside, Calif., the Clark County Coroner’s Office said.
