An officer fatally shot a man who produced what “appeared to be a handgun” during a confrontation this morning, according to Henderson Police.
The officer was also injured and was taken to a hospital, where they were in stable condition, police said. No additional details about the officer’s injuries were immediately released.
The incident happened about 6:55 a.m. in the 10000 block of Eastern Avenue after police were dispatched to a report of a man with a gun, Officer Alan Olvera said.
Police made contact with the subject, who produced what was believed to be a gun, leading to the shooting, Olvera said.
The subject was taken to a hospital, where he died, Olvera said.
No additional details were immediately available.
Police asked people to avoid the area of Eastern and St. Rose Parkway.
