Rarely will a coach sound happier on the first night of the season than Arbor View’s Dan Barnson did on Friday.
He couldn’t come up with many complaints over a 59-7 Arbor View victory over host Las Vegas High where the running clock was enacted in the second quarter.
“The kids played great,” Barnson said. “What else can you say?”
Barnson praised defensive coordinator John Gibbons for coming up with a game plan that shut down the Wildcats. Las Vegas gained only 112 total yards, and 49 of them came on the first play of the game.
Arbor View, meanwhile, put up 501 yards of offense. Jaquari Hannie had 133 yards and a touchdown on seven rushing attempts, while Deago Stubbs also scored and had 66 yards on seven carries.
Quarterback Logan Bollinger threw three touchdowns to go with 114 yards.
