We continue to read about the killing of a clerk behind the counter by someone with a gun (“Drugstore shooting near Summerlin leaves one dead; police make arrest,” lasvegassun.com, Dec. 26). I spent a lot of years as a uniformed police officer and always advised people that when confronted by a person with a weapon, they should grasp their chest, fall down and act dead. The next move is up to the shooter.
If you remain still, what do they do? Put yourself in their place. Do they look for someone else? Do they get out of the place?
