I just returned home from a four-day trip to Las Vegas. What struck me was that the city is still choosing to sprawl outwards instead of building up, as we’re doing in Oregon.
In the paper (which I read every day — congrats on a having a great local paper!), I read a few articles about water issues. I would guess that diminishing supplies of water are going to be a factor for Las Vegas’ future, but I see many million-dollar mansions being built on the outskirts of the city.
It makes no sense to me, and I hope Nevadans can see this and change course.
