Obama has made America better

I would like to reply to the writer of the letter “Impeach Obama to put our nation first” and others who feel President Barack Obama has ruined this country and should be impeached.

I would like the writer to give me one specific offense that would warrant the impeachment of the president.

Since he took office in 2009, Obama has brought our troops home from Iraq and will be bringing the war in Afghanistan to a close by the end of 2014. On his watch, he had Osama bin Laden killed.

Under the Affordable Care Act, more than 10 million Americans have health insurance for the first time. The Republicans have tried many times to have this act taken off the books, but they have no alternative for Americans who need this insurance.

I certainly don’t see any impeachable offenses in any of the above. Since day one of his presidency, the right-wing Republicans have made sure they opposed anything he presented to Congress, even though many of these proposals were originally proposed by the Republicans themselves.

Since 2009, unemployment has decreased to below 7 percent and the stock market has more than doubled. Do those constitute impeachable offenses?

The Republican-controlled House has absolutely no intention of passing anything that the president proposes, regardless of whether it is for the good of the country.

If the Republicans would stop criticizing and work for the good of all Americans, this would be a much better country.
