letter to the editor:

Understand the role of Congress

The writer of the July 19 letter “John Boehner should be fired” seems to believe that Congress should obey President Barack Obama in every piece of legislation he proposes.

I must point out that, constitutionally, the voters hire the members of Congress and the president by the election system. They can’t be fired, per se.

I believe that Obama should be removed (perhaps by impeachment) for incompetence, arrogance and ignorance. Not because of his race or his party, but because he has doubled the national debt, unemployment has been too high for too long, welfare is out of control, and the United States’ reputation has suffered because he has no idea how to lead.

The letter writer probably needs to read our Constitution to understand the oaths and relationship between the executive, legislative and judicial branches of our government.

A little knowledge is a dangerous thing; ignorance is disastrous.
