Fans rush the court and UNLV guard Kevin Kruger following the Rebels’ 60-50 victory over Air Force at the Thomas & Mack Center on Feb. 20, 2007.

Former Rebel Kevin Kruger is leaving his father’s staff at Oklahoma to become an assistant at Northern Arizona, Kruger announced via Twitter earlier today.

Kevin Kruger spent the past season as a graduate assistant at Oklahoma, where his dad, Lon, is entering his fourth season as coach. Prior to that, Lon Kruger spent seven seasons leading UNLV.

In his lone season as UNLV’s point guard, Kevin Kruger helped lead the Rebels to the 2007 Sweet Sixteen. Kruger averaged 13.5 points and 5.1 assists per game as a senior after starting his career at Arizona State.

The Lumberjacks are led by coach Jack Murphy, whose father-in-law is former UNLV Athletic Director Jim Livengood.
