letter to the editor:

Constitutional rights can be lost

Regarding the Dec. 20 letter, “It’s not as though we lack gun laws,” I contest one statement: “The Second Amendment has done so by giving all citizens the right to keep and bear arms.”

Omitted was the reference to “without infringement.”.

Don’t forget, “Permission approved means permission refused.” Convicted felons lose constitutional rights, just as those judged, by lawful process, to be mentally insufficient to conduct business. One of the rights lost is the Second Amendment.

The issue of signs saying “no guns allowed’ on private property does not fall under the Second Amendment. An owner of private property has the lawful right to restrict gun possession on his property.
