Letter to the editor:

Misinformation clutters existence

The letter to the editor “Smooth seas ahead? Not likely” (Nov. 25) illustrates the mindset and lack of information that often accompany people who rely on right-wing controlled media as the source of their worldly understanding.

While making his argument, the letter writer lists supposed “scandals” for which the administration has not been held accountable. First of all, a scandal doesn’t become one until something devious is proven.

Fast and Furious resulted in the decision to “walk” firearms by the Phoenix field unit. There is no evidence to suggest otherwise. Benghazi Gate: I guess the author didn’t catch Fox News’ report saying the House special investigation committee’s finding was the same as the previous eight committee hearings held by both the House and Senate. There was no evidence of a cover-up, a stand-down order or a failure to respond properly by any entity. The IRS corruption he talks about was found to be the policy of middle-level management in a field office. Finally, as to the claimed deceitfulness used to try to extend health care coverage: We’re the only major industrialized nation without a comprehensive national health care system.

There are so many people in this world who would love to have a free and informative news media. Conversely, there are so many in this country who flock to right-wing controlled media, then clutter up our existence with their selective understanding of our human condition.
