letter to the editor:

Costco sets a good example on wages

Raising the minimum wage would be great for Nevada. The money would flow directly back into the local economy, subsidies including food stamps would be reduced, and workers would not have to struggle as hard for basics, including food and lodging.

Since the majority of minimum wage employees are women, families will benefit directly.

Costco wages start at $11 per hour. The company says it is a lot more profitable to minimize employee turnover and maximize productivity and commitment. I shop at Costco.

The atmosphere is terrific, the workers helpful. I remember a time when that was the rule rather than the exception.

If people are treated with respect, it will be returned. We should treat all of our citizens with respect.
