Desert Pines football players Eric Wilkes, Tim Hough and Malik Davis July 30, 2013.

Desert Pines rushed for 408 yards in a 30-13 victory over Clark in the first round of the Division I-A playoffs.

Erik Wilkes was the top rusher for the Jaguars, running for 87 yards with a touchdown.

Desert Pines coach Tico Rodriguez said the game plan called for running the ball with a variety of backs. In all, seven different Jaguars carried the ball at least once.

Quarterback Iquan Corsey had a strong day. He had 55 yards rushing on 13 carries with a touchdown. He also threw 5-for-10 for 21 yards with a 4-yard touchdown pass to Malik Davis.

Desert Pines draws Faith Lutheran in the Division I-A Southern Region semifinals.

Rodriguez was complimentary of the Crusaders, who have been white hot as of late winning their last nine games.

“They’re a fine team with a good offensive line,” Rodriguez said “We’re excited for the challenge. They’re doing some good things there and we’re excited for the challenge to play a quality team.”
